Choosing and Using a Contact Manager or CRM

Now available here!

The primary goal of this book is to help insure that one sentence never comes out of your mouth, afteryou have purchased a Real Estate Contact Manager or CRM. That sentence begins with:

“I wish I had known…”

Far and away the biggest issue I see facing the majority of agents who are just beginning to search for a CRM is a very simple and universal one. You do not know what you do not know.

I hope to minimize that problem here. This book covers every facet I could think of concerning the many considerations there are when it comes to deciding which solution to choose. It includes evaluating your aptitude, your needs, and your goals. It includes an explanation of a significant percentage of the features that are available in Real Estate specific Contact Managers and CRMs, so that you know from which you have to choose. It talks about costs; Mac versus PC; when to buy one; why to buy one, backing up; exporting and importing databases; creating your own database; or going with an Outlook add-on; how to use one once you get it; the history of them, Web based versus Desktop; and much more.

On a daily basis, people come to me with all manner of questions relating to Real Estate Contact Management and CRM solutions. Not one realizes that there are over 40 different programs to choose from, and many have never used one before. It is a daunting task, especially if you do not know where to begin. The bottom line with most is that they have come to the realization that they need one, or that they need a better one than they have.

As with anything, you can go out and pretty much grab the first one you see, or maybe the one you have heard the most about. If you give it any thought at all though, you realize that this really is a very important decision, assuming you are going to use it for more than just a glorified Rolodex.

Real Estate specific Contact Management and CRM solutions is a very small niche which I have chosen to carve out for myself. In so doing, for the last 10 years, I have amassed more information on them than anywhere in the world on my Web site. This book contains most of it except the individual evaluations of each one. That is compiled in the Matrix. Use this book to help you in making the right decision the first time, and avoiding the costs of having to migrate to a new one later on. Use it to learn why moving from one to the next to the next is hurting you. Use it to make an informed decision. Use it to guard against the misinformation that exists online.
