Outlook Warning Message

The issue:  When sending e-mail out of AO, a Windows message pops up that says "A program is automatically trying to send e-mail on your behalf". That message is from Outlook, or Outlook Express, and it is a security precaution to try to prevent 'worms' from mailing people in your address book. The message can be automatically dealt with.

If you are using v 8.5 or later of AO, in conjunction with Outlook, then follow these steps.

1. Close all modules, so you have AO open, with just a blank gray screen.
2. Up at the top of AO, click Tools -> Setup Options.
3. Double-click on the Email Options line.
4. Check the Enable Enhanced Email box.
5. Click OK, and close everything.

Next time you go into your email module, you should no longer get that popup message.

If you are using Outlook Express, then follow these steps...

1. Open Outlook Express
2. At the top of OE, click Tools, and select Options.
3. Go to the Security tab, and UNCHECK the box that says "Warn me when other programs try to send mail as me."
4. Click OK to exit that menu.

If you are using a version of AO prior to v8.5 then you may want to check out a freeware utility called Express ClickYes, which can be found at by clicking here.
